How does it work ?

Optometrists and other eye professionals have been using rigid contact lenses for 100 years. Only in the last 20 years have we been able to understand and predict the process with objective measurement of the corneal surface thus allowing lenses to be produced that are predictable in outcome.

Electron microscope imaging and more recently anterior OCT imaging have allowed insight into the microscopic changes going on that allow us to correct myopia. These changes are transient and temporary allowing the corneal tissues to return to base line normality in all cases.

The overnight lenses sit in close proximity to the corneal epithelium. Capillary or thin file forces move epithelial cells away from the central corneal apex towards the periphery. This effectively causes the impression of a micro-thin contact lens on the central corneal apex. This impression if of the correct thickness will counter the myopic or long length of the eye all correcting the refractive error.

• This micro-thin contact lens is essentially invisible and the patient has no feeling of it at all.
